About Raisins

Raisins are essentially consumed as snacks, prominent ingredients in mixes, sauces and condiments, and a wide variety of baked goods and confections. Munthor raisins are sourced from South Africa from a region along the side of the Orange River where the grapes are harvested at the perfect sugar count by the local staff. The varieties include: Flame Medium Choice, Thomson Jumbo Raisins, Orange River Medium Choice, Golden Jumbo Choice, Golden Sultanas and Fruitmix. The harvested grapes go through a drying process, then cleaning and is then packed in accordance to customer specification in 5kg, 10kg, 12,5kg, 13.6kg or 15kg cartons. The raisins are BRC, Kosher and Halaal certified.

A 1/2 cup of raisins contains more or less: 217 calories, 55 grams of carbohydrates, 2.4 grams of protein and essentially no fat. It also contains fibre and sugar.

The grapes originate from ±580 expert grape farmers all along the Orange River, also known as the Great Gariep River. These pockets of vineyard land stretch over a distance of more than 300 kilometres between Groblershoop and Blouputs. The diversity of this vast thirstland is unmatched and translates into the production of unique grape varieties and cultivars.

Processing

Raisins processing

Raisins are delivered to the factory where it is dried. The grapes then go through a dry process followed by cleaning where a method of vacuum suction removes any dust and foreign objects.
Raisins are then packed as per customer specifications in 5kg, 10kg, 12,5kg, 13.6kg or 15kg cartons.
